BMR

Basal Metabolic Rate - This is the rate at which your body burns energy.  This is identified by a specific number of calories based on your specific characteristics.  Lets say your BMI is 2500, this means if you eat 2500 calories in a day you will not gain or lose a pound.  To gain or lose weight you would need to exceed or consume less than than your BMR to gain or lose weight.
